The Fight For Change Foundation was established by Richie Woodhall, former WBC world Middleweight Champion, Olympic Bronze Medalist and current media commentator and elite trainer, in 2010 to promote and deliver boxing and fitness related activities as a positive pathway for young people living in our most deprived inner city areas. Working with other experts and experienced professionals in the fields of sports development, youth work and education, and by drawing on his own experiences and observations growing up and participating in the boxing movement, Richie has established a Foundation that will work at the cutting edge of sport and social inclusion in the inner cities. By placing boxing related activity at the heart of these communities the Fight For Change Foundation will offer:

Positive sporting activities within the most hard to reach communities at key times – after schools, evenings and weekends – to engage with young people in their own environment. Quality coaching in both boxing and fitness activities. Educational support and personal development opportunities. Accredited training and coaching qualifications. Opportunities to volunteer and undertake work placements. Pathways into competitive boxing activity.

This approach will place the sport of boxing at the heart of a wider programme of youth development that will address a range of social issues currently blighting our inner cities – including youth crime, anti-social behaviour and the gang mentality, educational underachievement, health and obesity and unemployment.

'It's my belief that boxing is, and has always been, a great way to keep young people out of trouble and involved in a positive environment with local role models. By combining that tradition with other opportunities to learn and achieve, both in boxing and in life, we can positively change the lives of young people and the communities they live in.'
